Three puppies snuggle into a small wicker basket, about 30 metres from the lone dog of the same group – together the two statues of the Dog Market, set into the kerbstones of the same small square at the corner of Batthyány utca and Hattyú utca. The group was installed in May 2022, commissioned by the Buda Castle District Council.

King Matthias Corvinus (1443-1490), known in folklore as ’Matthias the Just,’ is the hero of countless Hungarian legends in which he wanders among the people in disguise to uncover injustice, including the tale that gives this dog market group its name (see ’Dog Market: The Lone Dog’).

AddressOn the curbstones of the small square at the corner of Batthyány utca/Hattyú utca, about 30 m from the lone dog.
