Mr. Bean’s iconic, knitted teddy bear clings as a small bronze figure right next to the portal, on the facade of the former British Embassy. One possible reading: Kolodko uses pitch-black British humor here as a comment on the UK’s exit from the European Union (Brexit): the embassy has long since moved to new quarters, leaving behind, alone and lost, the teddy of perhaps the most bumbling Englishman in pop culture.

The mini-sculpture impresses with its texture: Kolodko has perfectly immortalized the coarse knitted look and button eyes of the original stuffed toy in metal. What makes the statue extra special: unknown Budapesters have been knitting and renewing a bright red woolen scarf for the little bear for years — entirely unsolicited, a quiet, collective ritual of affection.
